That animation was pretty helpful, thanks for posting it!
Also, I was wondering if you had any websites with detailed information about the hydrosphere? The textbook didn't describe it in full, and I wanted to learn more for something I'm writing - I thought it was interesting. I found a couple sites, but if you come across any particularly good ones can you post them?
I think it's interesting that humans use pyramids to show lots of things, not just how energy flows. For example, the food pyramid was also made by humans to show what food is good for you and what food isn't so good for you.
Can the triangle have more than three layers? Like if in the ocean, the plankton was on the bottom, then the krill, then the fish, and then something like a shark?
Can't the carnivores just eat themselves? If there was an abundance of carnivores, can't they just eat each other and the best of the best, the survivors just migrate to another ecosystem? its complex but it can work if there was an abundance of carnivores... -Omar
Omar, that sounds kind of gross but i think it would actually be really cool. Also, pets sometimes do that, like a mother fish and a baby fish. I also read about mice that sometimes will kill each other if one of them is injured to put them out of their misery but thats a different story
Um, this is kinda off topic, but if what Omar says is true, would that make the carnivore a type of cannibal?? I'm so confunded... And thanks Leslie! This helped.
Does that mean we get the most energy? I'm glad our pyramid is shaped like a pyramid. Energy pyramids are sort of like a food chain..
ReplyDeleteQuite helpful indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe examples were especially helpful in helping me understand the energy pyramid.
ReplyDeleteI like how the pyramid changes and turns into different unbalanced shapes. This is very helpful and cool.

What happens if the bear just eat the small fish and then the large fish have nothing to eat? Would they go extinct?

this ones better than the one from class
ReplyDeletethis is really helped me
ReplyDeleteSophia, I think that mostly everything above it would die out and the ones lower would thrive and become a bigger part of the environment.
