  5. the cancer probably has nothing to do with the diabetes or maybe the diabetes was caused by the cancer in the pancreas preventing the enzymes in the pancreas from helping to take out enough glucose from the blood causing the diabetes. the diabetes did not cause the cancer i think.

  6. that's confusing matthew, but i think i understand what you mean. often, health problems or diseases can trigger each other. Before he passed away, my grandfather had lung cancer. He didn't die of the lung cancer but he did of pneumonia. The chemo and cancer weakened him causing the pneumonia to be more fatal than a regular person would take it. I know that my grandfather caught it instead of a natural disease like diabetes but you know what i mean. sort of.

  9. Leslie, I was reading about the thyroid and parathyroid glands, and it said that if the body does not get enough iodine, then the thyroid gland cannot produce enough hormones to regulate the rate of energy produced by the nutrients in the body and you get a goiter, an enlargement of the thyroid gland.
Why do people get goiters on the sides of their necks then, where the thyroid gland is not located? And why does the thyroid gland enlarge?
