Lions and tigers and LIGERS. Oh my!

Wait a minute. Ligers? Grolar Bears? Wholphins? How would Carlos Linnaeus classify these organisms? Do they contradict what he believed about classification? Do you know of any other hybrid crosses? Tell me what you think! Want to see more? (Thanks Radhika!)

  11. When I went to Thailand over the summer I got to play with live tigers! It'd be way cooler if I could play with ligers!

  12. Hi Guyz! this is the answer too Remi's question: http://www.liger.org/whats-the-difference-between-a-liger-and-a-tigon-2/

  13. Are there any half human half animal hybrids?

  14. Its kind of sad that a liger isn't lke fertile, or that it can't have babies, because that'd be really awesome if we could actually classify liger as an ANIMAL, not just... an animal? For example, ligers are animals but they can't have babies so they can't reproduce, but TIGERS can, so it'd be really cool. But then again, they're kind of scary...

  15. I think that it is so cool when two differnet animals reproduce, and you get something like a liger, wolphin, or grolar bears. I also think that it is very upseting that they can't reproduce because it would be really awesome!!!!

  16. Leslie, ihad no idea ligers were real. Nor did my friend napoleon dynamite. But anyway, you should look up the snake fish. It's a fish from asia that can breath from land or water!!!

  17. Does a liger have double the instincts that a big cat would have because it's descended from two big cats? Or not?
    P.S. Does a lion and a zebra make...a libra?

  18. Are wholphins really a cross between a dolphin and a whale? Because they come from a bottlenose dolphin and a false killer whale which is really a type of dolphin.

  19. that liger was sooo cute!!! Do u know wat ligers and tigons would be clasified as?

  26. It's amazing how two animals that are different can mate and have a baby that looks like both parents. I assume it will work with any two animals that are closely related.

  27. a read in a national geographic kids magazine a while ago: most zorses have mixed coloring, but one was bread in which only his/her (I forget) rear end had stripes, and his/her front end was brownish (horse color) apparantly, these are really rare in the wild, or even in captivity. The picture of it looked really cool and funny!

  28. I thinks it's really cool how different animals mate. It's like how mocking birds and jabber jays mated in the book The Hunger Games and their outcome was a mockingjay! It's really cool and awesome!

  30. I totally agree with stanley, and how about a mockingjay. WHO KNEW???
And if you have a Zorse, is it black on white, white on black, brown on black on white, brown on white on black or any otherway??
